The changing of the seasons is such a bittersweet time of year. I’m constantly amazed at how one day, we’re suddenly and fully immersed into fall. Jenna and I wanted our latest styled shoot to embrace this transition, otherwise known as our seasonal Equinox. Each season comes with its own style, foliage and weather, and we think it’s worth celebrating! We’re excited to introduce to you, EQUINOX.

Jenna and I gathered a team of local, female creatives to bring our vision to life in a Seattle-based studio on a Sunday afternoon. We teamed up with Thatch Floral to forage, ideate and create a standout floral installation in our color palette that would be used as a backdrop in our shots. Needless to say, I’m always blown away by her ability to turn a small “idea” into a wow factor, without fail.

We brought local bloggers Kat & Kim, twin sisters that kill it in the Seattle fashion scene – they are constantly pushing the boundaries of sustainability, elevated basics and on-trend pieces. They pushed the boundaries when wardrobe styling for this shoot to show off unique, sustainable fall trends that are grounded in saturated fall tones and pattern mixing. Jenna and I had never photographed twins before so it was a fun challenge to pose and style Kat & Kim to create visual intrigue and a gallery of imagery we are proud of.

To tie in our overarching shoot color palette, we leaned into floral-dominated backdrops and rich, saturated tones. Curious about the yellow velvet backdrop? I purchased one panel of mustard velvet curtain from Amazon. The leopard backdrop? A tapestry ordered from Society6. Because these shoots are all about making magic and collaborating on a personal budget, we don’t want to break the bank.

The change of seasons is such an inspiring time visually from the fashion, foliage, trends and the color palettes that we lean into and experiment with. We hope EQUNIOX encourages you to play, create and embrace every second of the season we are in.
