Can we please rewind time to the start of the weekend where the hardest decision you have to make is where are we going for brunch!? But for real, I'm recovering from such a FUN weekend celebrating my boyfriend's birthday - we stuffed our faces with delicious food, went go-carting, visited Snoqualmie Falls (I'd never been), checked out the Museum of Pop Culture and rooted on the Dawgs at a Huskies Game. Oh, and my birthday surprise to Tristan was finally revealed! We're going to London this spring!!!! We're so excited to travel abroad, explore and go to a soccer match during our visit! Keeping this surprise a secret for months was killing me but now the secret is out and we can plan our trip together! I'll be in need of London travel recommendations, but that will be a post for another time.
In the mean time, to combat the Monday blues, I'm sharing one of my favorite trends I've been wearing over and over again. The trend? GINGHAM. I seriously can't get enough of it. (As you can see from my previous summer gingham blog post here). But this time I'm sharing gingham, fall edition.
I have been loving the gingham trend! It's so versatile for so many seasons. When I spotted these gingham pants at Zara at the beginning of fall (they are no longer featured online, but I've linked a similar pair here) I knew they had to be mine! The gingham print is larger than most I've seen so it creates a bold statement. The waist has a bow tie belt and each pant leg has slits on the side for a little added intrigue. I love details like this that make a garment that much more worth the purchase!
One of my go-to tops to wear with these pants when I'm wanting to strike that balance of comfortable but stylish is my Chenille Funnel Neck Sweater from Nordstrom. It comes in so many fun colors but I was smitten with the brown bronze color, it's perfect for fall! It's a bit oversized in fit (I got an XS and it's still pretty bulky) and is a great layering piece. The fabric is so soft and cozy and has a nice velvet shine to it. I've worn this sweater with mini skirts, boyfriend jeans and these gingham pants - it's such a versatile piece. I love wearing this sweater with these pants in particular beacause the color combined with the print is so flattering!
To dress up my look, I rely on my Halogen studded heels to do the job. These heels are the best for when I'm at work, out to a brunch with girlfriends or heading off to date night! They are comfortable (not too tall of a heel) and go with everything, I swear every lady needs a pair of black heels in their closet!
Aside from my shoes, I decided to let bold accessories make a statement in this outfit. The bolder, the better, in my opinion! I scored these chunky gold hoop earrings on a major discount from Nordstrom. I feel like I've raided my mom's earring box from the 90's every time I wear them, but I'm telling you, I receive so many compliments on this pair! I love a bold earring when I'm not feeling like rocking a statement necklace. Also, they are super lightweight, which is a huge plus in my book when I'm wearing larger than life ear candy.
To stick with the black and gold palette I've got going on, my Target crossbody is my handbag of choice when I'm on the go and just need a bag to hold all of my essentials. The gold detailing is an excellent way to tie in my earrings and hue of my sweater.
Fall fashion, to me, is all about comfort and embracing a trend (or two, or three...) that will last you beyond the season you're indulging in. What does fall fashion mean to you? What are some trends you're loving this fall?
