Tourist for the weekend

Who says you can't be a tourist in your own city!? In fact, these are the days I love most -- exploring the city I call home on a sunny weekend is the best way to discover new favorite places. I recently spent a weekend afternoon with a good friend of mine exploring primarily the Capitol Hill area of Seattle as well as downtown Pike Place Market to grab some spring bouquets (a must for a sunny day in Seattle!)

Our day started with a delicious brunch at Oddfellows on Capitol Hill, I recommend getting there early to beat the brunch crowd since that is when it tends to be the most popular. However, we were seated pretty quickly and opted for the back patio with a fun view of the brick building with string lights overhead. The inside of the restaurant is stunning! I love the exposed brick/rustic interior and overall Seattle vibe.

Brunch was delicious -- I indulged in a green juice accompanied with eggs benedict and potatoes.

Ivy and I spent some time exploring the fun different side streets of Capitol Hill and wow, I had no idea how amazing the street art is in this neighborhood of Seattle! I loved all of the vibrant colors.

Not to mention, I loved how this turquoise wall in particular matched my Brooks athletic shoes -- which I should mention, are the perfect weekend shoe as they provide great arch support which make you feel like you are walking on clouds and they are stylish, a win-win all around. The rest of my outfit pretty much resembles my weekend uniform in a nutshell: Topshop distressed black jeans, a graphic t-shirt from H&M with a lightweight cardigan from Nordstrom layered over the top. For accessories, I'm wearing my Rayban sunglasses, a Nordstrom statement necklace and my new favorite cross body by Rebecca Minkoff from The Nordstrom Rack.

Ivy and I also stumbled across what is what I picture heaven looking like, TOTOKAELO on Capitol Hill aka minimalist's dream. I had heard so much about this store so I was excited to finally check it out for myself and I have to say, it was worth the visit! I absolutely loved the interior store displays and all of the shoes/handbags. They also had a fabulous denim selection! I'll definitely be making another visit soon.

After we were done exploring the top of Capitol Hill we ventured down for a mid-afternoon treat at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room. It was awesome showing Ivy the roastery since she had never been before and on a busy Saturday afternoon it was cool seeing all the machinery and baristas in action.

To end our day we couldn't pass up stopping over at Pike Place Market for some fresh spring bouquets! I love this time of the year at the market because it's tulip season and all the colors are so beautiful and bright. We had such a wonderful time scoping out all of the various floral displays but it also became a bit stressful at times because how do you pick just one bouquet!? Well, we didn't. We ended up coming away with a few more than anticipated but sometimes you just have to treat yourself.
