Feminine & Denim: Not your boyfriend's jeans
I have been so antsy to share this latest collaboration piece with my lovely photographer and friend Kamrin Dishman of KNDM Co. (http://kamrindishman.com) --who I have to mention is rocking a new rebrand on her digital platforms that I recently designed for her, her print rebrand will be in the works soon!
When planning this style collaboration, I tried to observe what I tend to gravitate to more during the spring when the weather can be so unpredictable. There was a trend. Denim. Denim jackets, jeans, denim tops...I wear more of my denim during the spring than I do any time of the year. Why? It's versatile, it's great for layering and it's stylish.
Not to mention, all of my denim pieces are so comfortable! I also tend to bring out more color and feminine touches this time of year. And so, the FEMININE & DENIM style collaboration was born.
I have had to say "goodbye, for now" to my bulky winter sweaters, wool socks and boots. I also have been trying to integrate more color and print into my spring looks this year. Pastels are super in right now but can be a challenge to wear. I recommend selecting a pastel that will not wash out your skin. The key to your spring staples should revolve around (especially if you're in the Pacific Northwest and the weather is unpredictable): versatility, layers and complimentary colors.
My first look of the collaboration is dubbed "not your boyfriend's jeans." This look aims to be comfortable, casual and a look targeted for weekends when you're wanting to look stylish but effortless. In this look I am sporting my favorite pair of jeans to date: my Articles of Society Cindy Distressed Girlfriend Jeans from Nordstrom. These are hands down the most comfortable pair of jeans I've ever owned and I am loving the wash: medium to light wash and just the right amount of distress around the knee. I wear these jeans with everything. I simply cuff them and can wear them with my VANS slip-ons, a pair of pumps and sandals. They go with everything and are a great price!
I'm also sporting my new favorite casual sandals, my knockoff floral birks from Forever21. These shoes feel like slippers and I love the feminine floral pattern and copper/gold accents. For an inexpensive shoe, they standout and add a little fun flair to any outfit.
My floral stitched top is another Nordstrom find from last summer that I dug out of the back of my closet. This feminine top is very flattering in its fit. Since this top is see-through I am sporting my life saver lacelet bra that is casual yet appropriate enough to wear in public but a camisole would also do the trick!
Dainty gold jewelry do the trick with this look. Gold bar studs from Nordstrom's Brass Plum and a gold cuff from Francesca's are a great way to bring out the gold accents from my sandals while also staying more on the minimalistic side to let this outfit do the talking.
