Winter Neutrals with a Pop

I am excited to share the next outfit highlight in my POP OF COLOR photo and style collaboration series with my lovely friend and ultra-talented Seattle-based photographer, Kamrin Dishman of KNDM Co. Photo.

You'll catch me wearing this look on a regular basis during the winter. In the winter, layering is the key to success in the Pacific Northwest because the weather can be so indecisive. My outfit revolves around these main pieces: a white pullover sweater from Nordstrom perfect for layering and dressing up or down any look -- as seen in my sporty pop of color post; my favorite faux-leather leggings that give any outfit a little bit of a kick compared to that of normal black leggings; and my go-to marbled (white, grey and black) cardigan sweater from Forever 21 that's long enough to make wearing leggings in public acceptable and is flexible enough to turn an outfit into a casual weekend look or a dressy night out look. I complimented my look with my perforated black slip-on Vans, a black floppy hat from Nordstrom; a bold statement necklace with hues of metallics, blues, golds and pinks as well as my new favorite crossbody Kate Spade purse in Pantone's color of the year: Marsala.

When pairing color with neutrals think about what pieces you want to show off and plan your outfit accordingly. In my outfit's case, wearing a hat with a crossbody bag and a necklace can be a lot of accessorizing; but choosing to wear a black hat neutralizes the outfit allowing my bold necklace and warm-colored bag to stand out. I also topped off my look with a magenta lipstick to add a little sass to my look -- courtesy of NARS.
