For those that are curious if I have a uniform other than sweatsuits during this pandemic, the answer is yes. I have been living in this outfit (quite literally on repeat weekly) during the fall. The Pacific Northwest has a unique transition between the seasons - not quite cold enough to wear a bulky sweater but also not warm enough to opt for the no sleeves summer attire. And so, I introduce you to the greatest pro-tip for dressing for northwest fall: layers.

After perusing London and New York Fashion Week street style round-ups, one thing was clear: I needed a sweater vest. I love this spin on the Mr. Rogers/’not your grandpa’s sweater’ sweater trend that has been circulating and I needed to get in on the action. Fashion FOMO can be a real thing too!

As I mentioned above, layers in the northwest are crucial during seasonal transitions; so after I spotted this cropped beige sweater vest on sale at Missguided, I quickly scoured the internet for an oversized white collared blouse. I have been loving the idea of a ‘capsule’ fall wardrobe - selecting 2-5 pieces each season that can be reworn in a multitude of ways. It’s an efficient and more sustainable way to shop seasonally and also prioritize quality over quantity when it comes to overdoing it on trends. Needless to say, the white blouse has made its appearance in various outfits this fall.

While I have worn this outfit a variety of ways lately (skirt, denim, biker shorts), my go-to is with my leather Spanx leggings that have lasted me for 4 fall seasons now (if I can convince you to get one item of clothing from this post, it’s these moto leather leggings) and a pair of sneakers for comfort purposes (this leopard detailed pair are from Madewell from a few seasons back). When dressing up this outfit, I opt for a knee high boot or ankle bootie. I round out just about every outfit with accessories, it’s the icing on top for me. Gold hoops, necklace, rings and a hair clip make this look feminine and just, effortless.

I always love seeing how people style fall outfits, so I hope that this post at the very least made you feel inspired when it came to my interpretation on ‘sweater weather’. As always, leave a comment or question below and tag me in your fall street style outfits, I love to see them.
