Spring stripes with Clover and Sloane
I love a big and bold print as much as the next person but don't let us forget about the classic print we all know and love: stripes. Stripes and I have had our differences in the past, mainly because I went years avoiding them because they seemed daunting: Do I go horizontal? Vertical? Bold? Thin? Colorful? Neutral? The options were endless and that used to intimidate me, now, I can't get enough.
Thanks to Clover and Sloane for providing me this Gramercy Stripe I was able to get my stripe fix while in London! This dress is the perfect day dress to wear at work or when you're on the go! It's blue and white stripes make a statement but really don't take away from the rest of the beautiful details like the v-neckline, capped sleeves, flounce skirt and buttons tapering up the side. It's a one of a kind style and perfect for fellow shorties (I'm 5'2) like me!
I also love a dress that makes layering seamless. Because spring is unpredictable in Seattle (and in this outfit's case, London) I love to find ways to wear a sweater, cardigan or jacket over the top of my dresses. My new white cropped Topshop sweater fits over the top of this dress like a dream giving me the added layer I need without covering up too much of my dress - after all, a dress with this many fun details needs to be showed off!
Dresses that allow you to experiment with a variety of shoe options is also a win in my book. In the case of this dress, I'm able to wear a pair of heels, wedges, espadrilles, sandals or sneakers. For sight-seeing during our trip, I opted for sneakers (in fact, this pair of velcro white sneakers with the gold heel detailing I scored from H&M before our trip on sale for $7!!!) It gives my overall outfit a laidback vibe but when paired with accessories like my Topshop rose fringe pearl crossbody and colorful statement necklace from J.Crew keep it elevated. I love sneaking in pops of color to an outfit when and where I can!
How are you wearing stripes this season? With spring in full force and summer on the horizon, the options seem almost endless!
