The days might be getting longer (hooray, sunshine past 3pm!) but they are also getting more rainy and cold. Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean it's time to hang up your rain jackets and layers...especially here in Seattle!
I'm here to share with you a new take on sweater weather thanks to my latest collaboration with Socialite Clothing. This look features this sleek and comfortable sweater dress in a beautiful plum color! I have been finding unique ways to integrate various shades of the Pantone color of the year into my wardrobe and I'm having so much fun with it!
Rather than most sweater dresses that tend to be a bit blousey and loose, this dress is fitted but not skin tight making for the perfect everyday dress to wear at work, on date night and while running errands! I also love the sleeves of this dress - fitted at the wrists and a bit of a balloon sleeve for some detailing. Despite the soft and overall thicker fabric of the dress, I wasn't ready to show off bare legs. And so, patterned tights it is!
Tights are such a great option for wearing dresses in the winter when you want to add a little pattern or color to your outfit in a subtle yet stylish way. I scored these tights from Nordstrom last year. I love the dotted line pattern because they aren't overly bold but still make a statement.
As I mentioned earlier, the holidays may be over but layering up is not! I feel like right after the holidays everyone likes to put away their over the knee boots until the next year. The last couple of years that's also been the case for me, until this year. This year I'm wearing my over the knee boots (this pair is Steve Madden from two years ago but you can shop other knee-high boots here) through the rest of winter! I love pairing them with a dress or skirt that hits above the knee. I like this pair because of the taller heel which gives me a little added height and always tends to dress up my outfit with ease.
Accessorizing this cozy, winter outfit is all about adding in that pop of color! I am such an advocate for statement pieces that bring in a bold pattern, color or texture into an outfit but is complimentary to the overall look's color palette. This J.Crew statement necklace is one I scored when visiting Denver during the summer and its poppy, corals, blues, pinks and metallics is a great accent piece for this outfit. Who says you have to retire your summer jewelry until the season comes?! Not me. My French Connection color blocked handbag is one I love to integrate year-round into my wardrobe. Whether I want to show off the bold red or the lavender purple side of the bag, it's up to my outfit. For contrast from the purple dress, I sided with the red.
As seen by this outfit, the sweater can morph its way into a stylish and versatile dress that's excellent for just about every season! In the spring and summer, I anticipate wearing this dress with a pair of espadrilles and a bold pair of sunglasses. On weekends, I'll be rocking this dress with a pair of high-top sneakers and a bright colored clutch. No matter the time of year, sweater weather lives on.
