How to creatively wear florals this summer

Florals will always be one of my favorite patterns to incorporate into an outfit especially during the summer. Vibrant colors, patterns and textures just sing to me in the summer time. Earlier this summer, I stopped by Zara and spotted this tropical floral printed mesh t-shirt dress and I knew I had to get it! I love the mixture of palm leafs, ferns and florals that cover the blush colored dress that gives it an airy and feminine feel. I was intrigued by the see-through mesh and the various ways I could style this sleeved dress through layering. It's on the longer side, hitting just above my ankles, so for a girl who is 5'3 you have to get a little creative!
Instead of rocking a slip underneath the mesh to wear it as a standalone dress, I decided to have more fun with layers! I wore a sheer camisole underneath the mesh dress and wore the dress over the top of my favorite pairs of denim: my STS Blue Harper Crop Skinny distressed jeans. I love how just the right amount of denim peeks out at the bottom of my dress giving the outfit some intrigue.
I paired my Pour La Victorie Sebina Slide Mules (they come in so many fun colors like black, blush and jasmine). I am wearing the jasmine color in this outfit. These slides are sleek in appearance and extremely comfortable when worn. They can also be easily dressed up or down depending on how you style them. The gold accent hint on the heels is also one of my favorite details of the shoe!
Accessorizing this look was all about playing up the florals! My frequently worn 7 Charming Sisters statement necklace was a no brainer for this outfit. The bold yellow and metallics compliment my dress nicely all while giving the upper-half of my outfit some definition. My mom passed off her orange crossbody bag to me a few years ago and it's my favorite "on the go" back for summer when I don't feel like hauling around a large purse. It also compliments the tropical color palette I have going on in this look.
Florals are such a flexible pattern that can be worn during the day or into the evening. I love mixing and matching them into various outfits that are creative in layering and unique in styling. Before, this mesh floral shirt dress would have had my mind reeling about: How I would wear it? What would I wear it with? Which would scare me off from purchasing it in the first place. But the older I get, the more confident I am in embracing and continuing to create my own personal style where I can make it all up as I go.
