The color I never thought I'd wear...

Red. It's a color I avoid and have very little of in my wardrobe. It's not that I hate the color it's just that I typically don't gravitate toward items that come in red. Until now...

As I mentioned, I did some major damage at the Zara summer sale and this ruffled sleeve dress caught my eye. It was also less than $30! The one I purchased is no longer available but you can shop a similar style here. I've been on a ruffle kick lately, they just bring the drama. The ruffled sleeves are 3/4 length meaning they don't get in the way like long sleeve ruffles tend to do. The deep-v neckline allows for an endless array of necklace options which is a huge win in my book. My Nordstrom statement necklace is the one making an appearance in this look!

Now, let's talk about the red. It's bold, a bit sassy and I sort of feel like the real life version of the dancer Apple emoji. The dress is more of a coral red in person so it isn't as intense of a red hue, but it still makes a statement, don't get me wrong.

When it comes to accessorizing, I've been adamant to show off my recent purchases from my trip to Nashville! I'm absolutely obsessed with these black slip-on wedge style espadrilles I picked up at a Nashville boutique! They are similar to VANS slip-ons but are far more comfortable with padded inserts. Espadrilles are such a hot commodity this summer I've been scooping them up any chance I can get. I love that these shoes can be worn casually or dressed up depending on the look. Although this dress would look killer with a pair of pumps, a pair of espadrilles makes it suitable for day attire when I'm on the go but still want to look stylish.

By finishing off my look with a black and gold accented clutch purse (also courtesy of the same Nashville boutique) and a pair of rose gold sunnies from Nordstrom, I'm ready for a sunny Seattle day!

What's a color you never thought you'd wear but ended up loving!?
