Palms & Gems
I've been loving the various shoulder trends lately for clothing; whether it be an off the shoulder top or cut out detailing, I love the extra flare it brings to any outfit. When I spotted this coral shoulder shift dress with shoulders slits and tie up tassels in the back while shopping in Sausalito at a store called 2Bella, I couldn't resist! It's become my favorite summer dress because it can be so easily dressed up or down and leaves so much room for accessorizing.
One of the easiest ways to accessorize this dress is with bold statement jewelry. In my latest collaboration with 7 Charming Sisters, I received the Beta Babe Necklace which is a more of a collar statement necklace style. While I love to pair these types of necklaces with a high collar or turtleneck during the fall and winter, in the summer, it's fun to wear with a dress.
7 Charming Sisters is unique in that you purchase your jewelry by selecting styles that are personalized for you. You can do this by taking a "sister quiz" on their website that will help you determine what types of jewelry suit your personality and style. It's a great way to find styles that are more suited for the type of outfits you wear!
During the summer, I love wearing a sun hat when I'm not feeling like bringing a pair of sunglasses with me everywhere. It's a great way to stay cool and also helps dress up an outfit. I'm wearing what I like to refer to as my Safari or Indiana Jones floppy hat made by Leith from Nordstrom. I love hats that come in neutrals because they go with everything!
Since it's summer time and I'm often looking for shoes that are easy to slip on and go, I've been loving my Birkenstocks lookalikes from Sports Authority. While I've been eyeing the copper pair of Birkenstocks for months, I couldn't justify making the $100+ purchase for shoes I could only see myself wearing for one or two seasons. When I spotted the lookalikes for $20 at the Sports Authority sale (which honestly most people don't even realize are not the real deal) I had to get them. They have become my go-to shoes that combine comfort and little extra style with the copper color.
To me, summer is really about mixing and matching your favorite statement pieces into comfortable and stylish looks. It's the best of both worlds.
Also, can we talk about this backdrop KNDM Co. and I found for this photoshoot!? Most people would think we took a day trip to California with the beautiful palm trees, cacti and the aqua blue and white wall; but in reality, we found this gem in Washington of all places! While I'm dreaming of making California my home someday, it's been fun finding little places around town that remind me of The Golden State.
