Pattern twist with a kiss
If there's one thing I can't get enough of lately it's pattern and not just rocking one pattern in a look but multiple! Sometimes it's daunting when mixing patterns together because, well, "it just doesn't go." But the truth of the matter is, it doesn't have to at first glance, the overall outfit should compliment itself! The purpose of mixing patterns is to have fun with it and to do it boldly.
When I purchased my T+J Designs lip print skirt (I couldn't resist!) I knew I was going to have fun styling it! Not only is the print extremely feminine, bright and fun but I love the style and fit of the skirt itself. It's on the longer side, which is a bit different from the other skirt styles I own and I love it! It's so easy to dress up with a pair of heels or down in a pair of stylish oxfords or wedges.
Because the print itself is so bold, you can go simple with a top in a solid color. However, I wanted to mix things up a bit when it came to complimenting my lip print with a different but more subtle pattern. My Madewell black and white striped long sleeve top is lightweight and the right amount of pattern I wanted to incorporate into my look to add some flare.
To dress up my look, I'm wearing a bold statement necklace from Forever 21. I figure, if you're going to go bold with pattern you might as well go bold with jewelry too! One statement piece often does the trick.
For shoes, I went with my go-to black heels from Halogen. I love these heels because of the studded detailing and they simply, go with everything! Not to mention, they tie in nicely with my black and white striped top.
Don't let pattern integration stress you out! Think of it as a fun challenge to discover what sorts of prints mix well together and rock it!
