San Francisco Highlight: Leo's Oyster Bar
San Francisco is one of my favorite places in the world to visit. I try to make my way out to the bay at least once a year to explore new places I've never been to. A place that's been floating on my "must go" list for some time can sometimes be hard to miss due to its smaller size, but I assure you, you DO NOT want to miss all that is Leo's Oyster Bar.
The decor is so well done that it's worth just stopping in the restaurant just to see it for yourself and snap a few photos, but the food and drinks also make it well worth the trip! Because the space is on the smaller side, I'd recommend getting there before the lunch rush -- however, this place is so popular it was even busy when we went early afternoon on a Friday.
I indulged in a riesling to pair with my assorted oyster selection -- they serve your assortment in a cooled display bowl and you are able to select on a checklist sheet the various ones you want to try. This go-around I tried the Hammersly, WA, Pacific Gold, BC and the Shigoku, WA. The Hammersly were my favorite. I love to pair my oysters with fresh lemon, vinegar and I also tried the other dipping sauce they featured.
I also tried a selection off of the "hot oyster" menu and this was to die for! I highly recommend the Oyster Carbonara with Crispy Pancetta if you like something with a kick and have tastebuds that long for Italian cuisine.
Leo's is now in the books as one of my favorite new restaurants and a must for every upcoming visit I make to San Francisco. If you're a lover of beautiful decor and a delicious seafood menu, this place is for you!
