Monochrome + Metallics | Look One
I never need an excuse to wear my two favorite colors: black and white, even when it's almost summer! During this time of year I like to experiment and kick my outfits up a notch, so, how does one make black and white look a little more interesting? My answer: metallics.
I've been obsessing over incorporating more metallics into my everyday wear whether it be rocking a chunky statement necklace, using a metallic-accented handbag or showing off some shiny shoes. Not to mention, metallics are so simple to integrate into outfits whether you are a fan of gold, silver or a mixture of both.
In my recent collaboration with Seattle-based photographer, Michele Equitz, I'm showing off my favorite ways to mix monochrome and metallic. In this first outfit, I'm wearing several of my favorite pieces to create the perfect everyday look. While lace-up tops are incredibly trendy at the moment, I have to say, after I got this TopShop long sleeve lace-up top I realized why everyone is loving it! This top is not only incredibly comfortable but it goes with everything and also adds an interesting detail to any outfit. To dress up my outfit, I'm wearing my TopShop white front zip skirt -- my favorite skirt that I own! I love the detailing in the front with the exposed silver zipper and frontal pockets. It's the perfect modern and stylish play on the classic mini skirt.
However, what is the best part of this entire outfit!? My Zara metallic oxfords. These are my favorite shoe purchase to date. I was originally a little nervous when I got these shoes because I didn't think I'd be able to wear them with a variety of outfits very well. But as it turns out, they go with so many different outfits and are the perfect shoes to wear casually or during a night out. The brogue detailing and metallic silver shine takes what would be ordinary oxfords to the next level. The track sole makes them more casual and adds great traction to the shoe! I don't think I've ever received so many compliments on a pair of shoes in my life, in fact, during our blog shoot even an older woman passed by and called my shoes "sexy." So from now on whenever I wear them I refer to them as my "sexy shoes."
For additional accessorizing, I am wearing my Nordstrom Rack rose gold accented sunglasses (perfect for sunny, summer days) and another way to subtly incorporate metallic into an outfit.
