LA City Guide: LACMA
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art / LACMA has been sitting on my LA wish list for some time now, so when I finally had the chance to go, I was thrilled! While I was disappointed to miss out on the Rain Room exhibit that was closed the weekend I went, I still was able to witness the beauty of this museum and the art featured inside (and out!)
The picturesque street lights (the LACMA staple) in the front of the museum that I'd seen from countless photos and movies, were even more beautiful in person. We were at the museum later in the day so we were able to witness the lights during the day and when they were turned on at night -- which I preferred.
This museum is expansive with lots to see and buildings to wander through which can be overwhelming for those visiting. I highly recommend determining specific exhibits you are interested in visiting before you make your way to the museum -- this will help reduce stress in the long run.
Also, don't forget to wander along the outside of the museum too -- there are several fun interactive installations on the grounds. My personal favorite was what I referred to as the yellow spaghetti installation that you can wander through. It also makes a great backdrop for pictures!
While we didn't have enough time to go into each building of the museum before closing since there was so much to see, it means I'll just have to keep my eye out for upcoming exhibits featured at LACMA to see during my next visit!
