Golden Hour: Look One
With autumn right around the corner I'm slowly but surely trying to sneak in various items into my summer outfits that are precursors to the styles and trends of my favorite season that's fast approaching. Integrating items of clothing that resemble fall can be difficult when the last of the summer weather is warm and most often you'd much rather resort to a sun dress and shorts; however, the key to this pre-autumn integration is strategic and requires experimenting with layers, color and textures.
In my latest collaboration with the extremely talented Seattle and LA-based photographer Jenna Bechtholt, we took advantage of Golden Hour on the rooftops of Seattle to embrace the summer weather with the fall looks I'm going to be sporting this coming season.
In my first look of this collaboration series, I'm rocking my new favorite pair of pants: denim joggers courtesy of Target. Not only do these pants fit perfectly with the right amount of slouch but I am such a fan of the darker denim wash. Not to mention, these are the most comfortable pair of pants I've ever owned. I secretly feel as though I'm wearing pajama pants when wearing these joggers. How can you go wrong?! Joggers have been a game changer for me when it comes to an alternative to wearing denim or leggings, and they really go with any sort of outfit whether they be worn casual or dressed up.
To keep this look more suited for summer, I'm wearing a white cropped tank from H&M that's a must-have basic for every closet. I love the tighter fit but it's still a long enough style to be tucked into my joggers. To dress up my look and integrate the darker, richer colors of fall, I'm wearing my new burgundy floppy hat from Nordstrom that is a wonderful statement piece for an outfit but also works as a great alternative to sunglasses. For additional accessorizing, I wanted to add some arm eye candy to this look, so I am sporting my Loren Hope cuff bracelet that was supplied to me in this month's Rocksbox -- one can never go wrong with simple, statement jewelry. To keep this look more "summer" I am wearing my favorite tan wedges from Nordstrom that not only bring me up 4-5 inches taller but also make me feel particularly sassy.
August is the perfect month to integrate key pieces you will be sporting this fall without going overboard rocking the knit sweaters, leggings and ankle boots. The key is mixing and matching.
Also, PS. This is my first shoot since I made the drastic change from being a blonde to a brunette -- talk about a fun change for fall and a great way to play up the best accessory one can have, hair!
