Introducing The Modern Bride
She’s here! Our Modern Bride. I’ve been SO excited to share this post with you all! My creative soul sister and best friend Jenna Bechtholt and I collaborated again on our latest creative project but this one is different than most as it is 100% bridal-focused! This project definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone in more ways than one given I’ve never concepted or executed bridal before. Jenna on the other hand, is a pro! She’s a Seattle and LA-based wedding photographer and so incredibly talented and familiar with what is on trend within the industry.
Jenna mentioned wanting to experiment with bridal during the winter and to break away from the traditional look and feel of bridal attire. We challenged ourselves creatively by embracing a soft, yet bold, feminine look without leaning too traditional. Instead, our styling leaned into jumpsuits, pants and a few textured pieces that reinforced bridal but gave it a bit of a modern twist. We also wanted to stray away from a standard veil and pursued the idea of integrating a lace-adorned cape and an ombre veil from A&Bé Bridal Shop that I’m still swooning over. Bold accessories also helped top each look off with a statement. Each of these pieces contributed a hint of femininity into our styled looks which kept it in the bridal space. And so, our Modern Bride was born.
Jenna explains the definition of our Modern Bride perfectly in her blog post: “I think the term “modern bride” was meant to mean that in today’s world we love seeing people stepping out of the norm and being true to themselves. These looks were meant to inspire those people who might not want a classic wedding look, but to still feel just as bridal-like and beautiful on their big day.”
A crucial element within our shoot was color. We wanted to stray away from leaning too neutral (which is extremely trendy in the wedding industry at the moment). Integrating colorful accessories, makeup and vibrant florals helped to add a bit more personality to our modern brides (models).
In the winter, I love to take on as many creative projects as possible to keep the content flowing and keep me motivated as I kick off a new year and combat these gray, Seattle days. And not to mention, getting to work with a dream team of creative lady bosses to execute our creative vision was such a dream come true!
I hope our shoot inspires YOU (future brides, newly-engaged gals and creatives alike) to create, collaborate, experiment, redefine and challenge the traditions and trends you observe.
Sending a HUGE SHOUT OUT to our amazingly talented team of Seattle vendors! We could not have done this without you.
